OUR STORY

Inch by Inch Willows was born after planting 50 unrooted cuttings of willow in my field of clay soil next to our home as an experiment to see if they would thrive. Currently an empty nester, I knew that as I approached the end of 16 years of home educating my children, I would need something to do that was just as exhilarating, and I would need a challenge that mimicked the rigor of running a home or graduating from West Point (Proud and Mighty Class of '90!). Growing a business from scratch has been a dream of mine and taking into consideration my interests and my parameters, I discovered the idea of growing willows for conservation projects, basket weavers, and florists. Because I have no experience in any of this and I don't like feeling overwhelmed, I proceed at a snail's pace, hence the name "Inch by Inch Willows."
My husband and children have assisted with various projects from building a shed to planting and watering, although I get the sense they think I am a bit overzealous about the simple willow. I have over 25 varieties of willow shrubs and trees from which I will provide dried and live stems. I will continue to plant unrooted cuttings so that they eventually cover our acre lot. And because there are so many uses for willow my offerings will also increase over time.
